My thoughts: This story does not disappoint! From the chill bump-inducing scenes surrounding the runaways to Suzanne’s shoddy investigative reporting leading up to her downfall, I couldn’t put the book down. It read as if I was watching a movie. So you know what that means right? Yeah, go ahead and set aside enough time to read this story totally uninterrupted. If you have to hang DO NOT DISTURB signs over your house, do it. Can you tell I liked this book? The story was interesting and Hawthorne and Crisp had the chemistry I like in the crime-fighting duos I love. (Think Brennan and Booth on the television show Bones or Rick Castle and Beckett in Castle). All I know is this author has to give them their own series so they can come back to fight crime another day.

My brief thoughts: In Every Heartbeat surprised me. The book's blurb really didn't have me interested because I thought the story was going to be predictable. But once I got into it, I couldn't put the book down. This story of forgiveness, using your gifts for God's glory, and trusting His will for your future will resonate with readers. Oh, and you know how I enjoy when the title comes to life, right? Well, let's just say a smile spread across my face.

My favorite character was Petey because he had so much to overcome with his disability and his family. Oh, my. His family. Go kiss your family members if they are just MILDLY dysfunctional. Reading about one family member of Petey's made me stop reading and be grateful. My heart ached reading some scenes.

This IS supposed to be my brief thoughts, so I'll just stop right here....after I type: I wouldn't mind catching up later with these characters in another story. Is this a series?

MYView: I missed reading book two of this series, Springs Renewal, but I instantly picked up with the characters I came to fondly know from book one, Winter’s Awakening. I couldn’t get over how timely this story is to my life right now. The themes of same-faith marriage, releasing our children into God’s hands, and being free to explore your own relationship with God will resonate with both teens and adults. Autumn’s Promise would make a good book club selection!

P.S. Who is that pictured on the cover. Lily? Not to me it isn't. I'm not going to say more for fear of giving something away.

Most readers want to know how authors 'got started' writing. My first novel, Threads of Love, was conceived when I was commuting sixty miles to work each day. I wanted to tell the story of a pioneer girl coming to Kansas and the faith that sustained her as she adjusted to a new life. When the book was completed, I tucked it away. I had absolutely no idea how publication of a book occurred and had given no thought to the concept. However, through a co-worker, I was directed to Tracie Peterson who, at that time, worked down the hall from me. Having never met Tracie, I was totally unaware of her writing career, but God intervened. The rest is, as they say, history....

With a graciousness that continues to amaze me, Tracie agreed to read my story, directed me to a publisher, and gave me information on a Christian writers conference. Since that first encounter many years ago, I have been blessed with the publication of numerous books, novellas and a juvenile fiction book. Joyously, Tracie and I had the opportunity to develop a blessed friendship. In fact, we have co-authored several series together, including The Bells of Lowell, the Lights of Lowell and The Broadmoor Legacy. In addition, I have continued to write several solo series. My thoughts: More than Words is an interesting glimpse into the Amana Society. Learning about life styles and faiths different from my own always fascinates me. While following Gretchen’s and Mr. Finley’s story kept my attention, the other subplots interrupted the flow of the story. I often felt that too much was going on and wanted to get back to Gretchen's dilemma. Overall, however, I feel that fans of bonnet fiction will find this story enjoyable.

What is funny (at least to me) is I thought this was my first time reading a book by this author. It surprised me when I realized I read the Postcards from Pullman series. Loved that series. No, I never reviewed them here. I told you I don't review every book I read. Shame too. I also have the Carousel Painter waiting patiently for me in my TBR stack, and here I thought Judith Miller was a new-to-me author. D’OH!

I'm still reading!

I know I've been introducing a lot of books lately, but things around here have been crazy. I have stacks of read books waiting patiently for reviews. Bad blogger. Bad blogger! Once I can catch my breath and clear away the cobwebs, I will share what I've read in the last couple of months. I hope soon because I'm tired of looking at the stacks of books piled high on my desk.

Well, at least I didn't accept any October book tours. Oh the withdrawal. But at least I will catch up a little. Right?
