It's Nice to Belong ... and what a bonus that we all belong to God's family!
In The Gardener and the Vine, we join the small branch named Basil as he meets the Gardener and makes a journey from loneliness to being a fruitful and loved part of the family of God.
My thoughts: Once again, what a great way to introduce the Bible to little readers. I thought this story showed how we are pruned by the master gardener to bear fruit, but found out the story was about God welcoming us into his family.
Ooops! Oh, well.
I think the story can be told both ways until the child learns to read the back of the book where the story is explained. Anyway, that's just me.
My thoughts on this series remain the same as before. The vivid often hilarious pictures will capture the attention of young and older readers who are open to God's invitation. There's so much story behind the pictures, a parent can teach little minds so much about God's enduring love. The page showing The Gardener climbing a dune in the desert just to find little Basil spoke volumes. And the shocked look on Basil's face that someone dared to care about him will comfort little hearts.
Devotions won't be chore with The Gardener and the Vine on your reading list.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Andrew is the creator, writer, and illustrator of the Lost Sheep series. Way back in 1989 as a young Bible college student, Andrew was asked to give the dreaded “children’s talk” at a large church. Andrew possessed one talent: he could draw sheep. He bought some overheard projector sheets and drew up the story of Cecil and the Lost Sheep. The congregation loved it, so Andrew continued to draw stories to use with kids and adults. Other student, pastors, and teachers started borrowing the stories.Product Details:
