Musing Over Covers / Reading

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about dust jackets.Do you prefer books with a dust jacket? What do you do with your dust jacket while reading? Leave it on or take it off? (Question courtesy of Kim from Page after Page)

I prefer books with the dust jacket off, unless it's a library book, with the filmy cushion-like cover. I like library covers so much I ordered what I thought was the same book covers only to receive a cover that made horrible crunching noise. Furthermore, I couldn't cover the books as crisp as the library. Needless to say, I don't bother covering my books anymore. I just use the flap as a book mark to keep my place.

How about you? Book covers on or off?

Sheila at One Persons Journey Through a World of Books hosts this weekly event where we celebrate what we are reading for the week as well as books completed the previous week.

Last week I read:

Last week was a busy week so I didn't get the chance to read much.

I finished:

Dancing With My Father by Sally Clarkson
It's In My Blood by Shawneda Marks
Last Light Over Carolina by Mary Alice Monroe

I started:

Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie
The Missionary by William Carmichael and David Lambert

This week I'll read whatever I can.

Reviews to write: too many to name. See this post.

What are you reading?

Book covers drive me nuts because they keep sliding around.

I usually take the covers off while reading, but for long term, I like a dust cover. They're pretty too!

It doesn't matter to me, as long as the book is good on the inside. I tend to take them off while reading though. Here's Mine.

If I'm just going to be reading the book at home, the dust jacket stays on. But if it's going to be doing any commuting with me (which they almost always do), then it comes off.

Looks like you still had a pretty good reading week. I hope you enjoy whichever books you decide to read this week!

I love the dust jackets. They add color. I just take them off while reading.

I often wonder who puts the clear plastic on the library books as they are not uniform. I think I will ask the next time I am visiting. I usually take them off.

You had a great reading week. Did you like Last Light Over Carolina?
