This is my first Random Dozen. How fun! Every week I look forward to reading my blogging buddy, Mocha with Linda's, responses, so I decided to join in. Can't promise this meme will be a weekly event for me, but I'll try to make it often. Join in at a 2nd Cup of Coffee.
1. How good are you at delaying gratification? Very well, if you’re referring to delaying gratification to achieve a goal. I always tell younger folk to make the sacrifices now in order to have the chance at a better life in the future.
2. What food or anything would be most tempting? Anything with gooey cheese. I love cheese, but will only eat it during the weekends. Hmm. I haven’t had cheesy fries in a long time. Okay, now I’m hungry!
3.On a scale of 1-10 (10 being saintly), how patient are you? I recently was reminded that being patient is not all that special; its how we BEHAVE while we’re waiting is the key. Therefore, I’m pretty patient. My attitude sometimes needs work.
4. Have you ever waited for something only to be disappointed upon receiving it? Oh, how frustrating is it to look forward to eating at your favorite restaurant, only to receive a bad meal. OOOH I hate that because we don't eat out often.
5. Are you a person who takes shortcuts? Instead of doing things the right way? NO. I would rather do things the right way instead of taking shortcuts and have to redo it. Total waste of time.
Now if you’re referring to driving, well sure, if I’m running late for something.
6. Which line is hardest to wait in? A buffet line. I’m such a germaphobe! I’m squeamish watching people ahead of me. So don’t touch your hair or your nose. Don’t sneeze or cough. And please monitor your children. Use the utensils provided not your hands. Terrible. I shouldn't even go, right?
7. Did you wait to discover the gender of your unborn child until its birth? No. We wanted to start calling him by his name the moment we knew he was coming.
8. Are you more patient with children or the elderly? Generally both. The elderly have been on this Earth longer than I have, so I’m extremely patient and respectful of them. For instance, I give a huge pass to elderly drivers. Heck, I want the same respect when I get older. (Decades and decades and decades,…did I mention, decades from now? *wink*)
9. Did you ever sneak a peek at a present? Oh yes and regretted it. My older brother and I used to “find” our Christmas presents. Well, one Christmas Eve, I let on to my father we knew where they were hidden. The look on his face cured me from ever, and I mean EVER, sneaking a peek at another gift. I learned that day that my parents’ Christmas gift came from our surprise. I ruined Christmas that year for him, and never peeked again.
10. What is the longest you’ve ever waited for anything? 8 years and counting
11. Who has more patience, you or your significant other? Depends on who you ask.
12. Which of the following songs about waiting is your pick for the best?OK, you may substitute another, if you like.)
A) Anticipation by Carly Simon
B) The Waiting by Tom Petty
C) Right Here Waiting for You by Richard Marx
D) Wait for Me by Rebecca St. James
I absolutely LOVE this song. It helps with #10.
While I’m Waiting
Psalm 5:3, 27:14, 33:20, 37:7, 38:15, 40:1, Isaiah 30:18, Lamentations 3:24
John Waller
"The explanation for this song is simple, I was waiting on God and I was hurting when I wrote the lyrics. I probably wouldn’t have written
a song if my friend, Mike, hadn’t encouraged me to document what I was going through during that time. I’m sure there are few people
who can’t relate to this song, but the important thing to remember while we’re waiting on God is to not just wait but to actively wait.
Serve, worship and be faithful with what you have, where you are… “even while (you) wait.”
I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait
I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I’m waiting
I will serve You
While I’m waiting
I will worship
While I’m waiting
I will not faint
I’ll be running the race
Even while I wait
I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it’s not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting on You, Lord

What beautiful lyrics...I love that. Thanks for sharing those today.
So far, you're the only one that shares the same #12 answer as me!! I absolutely LOVE that song!!
Talk about true worship and sacrifice of praise!!
Have a blessed day!

Woohoo! Welcome to the meme! I loved your answers, and they weren't too serious. #3 was convicting. #6 made me laugh. As did the end of #8 - many many decades from now! And #9 was heartwrenching. I can see it from both the child's perspective and the parent's.
So glad you joined us today! Enjoyed your answers and that song is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing it with us! Hope to see you again.
until next time... nel
So this is your first too! The cheesey fries sound awesome. Gee now I am going to look at a buffet in a different way. I'm glad I ate at Souplantation yesterday! I guess I am curious about the 8 years and counting. I collect books and seldom read. I love reading I just don't make time for it yet I am home 24/7/365. Pretty silly isn't it?
I totally forgot about that song and is exactly what I needed to hear right now. Thank's for posting that.
Love your answer for #3...We are so on the same page about cheese, if it has cheese in it chances are I can not resist it. Your answer for lines was funny, I am the same way and I think that is why I never get buffet anymore ;)
Cheese only on weekends? Don't think I could do it :)
Love the song.
I love that song and I love cheese fries.
