Book MYView: Who Do I Talk To? by Neta Jackson

When Gabby loses custody of her sons and nearly all of her worldly possessions, she's surprised to discover what she's really made of. Now if she can just get her sons back . . .

Gabby Fairbanks's husband locks her out and disappears with her sons, leaving her homeless and stunned. With her frail mother and a mutt named Dandy, Gabby must take refuge at the women's shelter where she works, trying to salvage the shattered pieces of her life. There, her new friends-including Lucy the bag lady and sisters from the Yada Yada Prayer Group-prop her up.

But a midnight intruder brings unwanted media attention to the shelter and threatens to undermine Gabby's chances of getting her sons back. Still hoping to put her family together again, Gabby puzzles over what to do with the warm attentions of a sympathetic lawyer who rebuilds her confidence and soothes her wounded spirit.

My brief comments: Neta Jackson is one of my autobuy authors. You know the ones you instantly HAVE to have the moment the book hits the shelf. Never mind waiting for a book tour, you want the book NOW.  Well, Neta Jackson is among the few authors I want immediately, even if I don't have time to read the book.

So don't throw cyber tomatoes at me when I say: This installment was just okay. Nothing really happened to move Gabby's situation forward. I'm not looking for her situation to be instantly solved as that would be unrealistic. There just wasn't anything really going on for awhile. Interesting scenes and situations were so far apart, that I was a little bored. *GASP* THE HORROR!  LOL.

Regardless, I still love me some Neta Jackson and the Yada Yadas anyway I can take them.  I  look forward to reading book three, Who Do I Lean On?, coming out in June.

Who Do I Talk To? by Neta Jackson is published by Thomas Nelson.(2009).

The House of Hope series is based on these lyrics by Dottie Rambo:

I Go To The Rock

Where do I go when there's nobody else to turn to?
Who do I talk to when nobody wants to listen?
Who do I lean on when there's no foundation stable?

I go to The Rock
I know He's able
I go to The Rock

Chorus
I go to The Rock for my salvation
I go to the stone that the builders rejected
I run to the mountain and The Mountain stands by me
When the earth all around me is sinking sand
On Christ, the solid rock I stand
When I need a shelter, when I need a friend
I go to The Rock

Where do I go, where do I go,
When the storms of life are threatening?
Who do I turn to when those winds of sorrow blow?
And is there a refuge in the time of tribulation?

I go to The Rock
I know He's able
I go to The Rock

I know here's the rock for my salvation
I know here's the stone that the builders rejected
I run to the mountain and The Mountain stands by me
When the earth all around me is sinking sand
On Christ, the solid rock I stand
When I need a shelter, when I need a friend
I go to The Rock
- Chorus -

I go to The Rock (4x)
You can go to The Rock (4x)
Oh I can go
I go to The Rock (8x)

When the earth all around me is sinking sand
On Christ, the solid rock I stand
When I need a shelter, when I need a friend
I go to The Rock

Christian Music Lyrics by: Gospel Music

Listen to Whitney Houston's stirring rendition from The Preacher's Wife: (I couldn't find Dottie Rambo singing it.I heard her sing it on TBN from a special celebrating her life and accomplishments, but I don't see anything on YouTube.)

I haven't heard of this series but i do own the first five in the YadaYada prayer group one. I'll be reading them this year and hopefully they're good.

Even our favorite authors can't be perfect every book :)

Oh, Lily overall they are the best of the best. However, you might find one installment just okay. Do read them this year, and pick up this series too.

Stacy, then we patiently wait for the next installment, don't we? I'm in the minority with my opinion about this story.

If you have not read Neta's origianl Yada Yada series...start with those books.

The new series with Gabby as the main character are excellent as well! I LOVE Neta's books and once you start reading you will not be able to stop.

Thanks for your thoughts, CeeCee. I haven't even started this spinoff series yet....eeek!

I never realized that the titles correlate to that Dottie Rambo song. Cool. :)
