I can't believe summer is almost over. I really didn't get the chance to go to the beach! And if you're a regular reader of Book Splurge, you know I love my beach. It was either too rainy or too cool to go. At least our electric bills are lower, but I missed my summer beach experience. (Sniff, sniff) Oh, well. I'll still go in the fall and winter, but it's not the same as schlepping the good ole beach gear.Anyway, what am I to do? Are you bummed too summer is coming to a close? Well, maybe some books will cheer you up. Thanks Waterbrook Press!

A vivid story of a private grief, a secret painting, and one woman’s search for hope.Still mourning the loss of her family in a tragic accident, Lillian Diamon finds herself drawn back to the Rose House, a quiet cottage where four years earlier she had poured out her anguish among its fragrant blossoms.
She returns to the rolling hills and lush vineyards of the Sonoma Valley in search of something she can’t quite name. But then Lillian stumbles onto an unexpected discovery: displayed in the La Rosaleda Gallery is a painting that captures every detail of her most private moment of misery, from the sorrow etched across her face to the sandals on her feet.
What kind of artist would dare to intrude on such a personal scene, and how did he happen to witness Lillian’s pain? As the mystery surrounding the portrait becomes entangled with the accident that claimed the lives of her husband and children, Lillian is forced to rethink her assumptions about what really happened that day.
A captivating novel rich with detail, Rose House explores how the brushstrokes of pain can illuminate the true beauty of life.
About The Confidential Life of Eugenia Cooper: The future is clearly mapped out for New York socialite Eugenia “Gennie” Cooper, but she secretly longs to slip into the boots of her favorite dime-novel heroine and experience just one adventure before settling down. When the opportunity arises, Gennie jumps at the chance to experience the Wild West, but her plans go awry when she is drawn into the lives of silver baron Daniel Beck and his daughter and finds herself caring for them more than is prudent–especially as she’s supposed to go back to New York and marry another man.
As Gennie adapts to the rough-and-tumble world of 1880s Colorado, she must decide whether her future lies with the enigmatic Daniel Beck or back home with the life planned for her since birth. The question is whether Daniel’s past–and disgruntled miners bent on revenge–will take that choice away from her.
About the Sweetgum Ladies Knit for Love: Once a month, the six women of the Sweetgum Knit Lit Society gather to discuss books and share their knitting projects. Inspired by her recently-wedded bliss, group leader Eugenie chooses “Great Love Stories in Literature” as the theme for the year’s reading list–a risky selection for a group whose members span the spectrum of age and relationship status. As the Knit Lit ladies read and discus classic romances like Romeo and Juliet, Wuthering Heights, and Pride and Prejudice, each member is confronted with her own perception about love. Camille’s unexpected reunion with an old crush forces her to confront conflicting desires. Newly widowed Esther finds her role in Sweetgum changing and is surprised by two unlikely friends. Hannah isn’t sure she’s ready for the trials of first love. Newcomer Maria finds her life turned upside-down by increasing family obligations and a handsome, arrogant lawyer, and Eugenie and Merry are both asked to make sacrifices for their husbands that challenge their principles.
Even in a sleepy, southern town like Sweetgum, Tennessee, love isn’t easy. The Knit Lit ladies learn they can find strength and guidance in the novels they read, the love of their family, their community–and especially in each other.

I would love to enter ther giveaway, but I don't know that you want to actually live through my summer experience. I worked at a local theme park checking time cards until it was time to go back to working at a school. All the same, I didn't really have to worry about rain ruining any days at the beach and I had some extra spending money, so I guess it all worked out.
I have a 17 year old daughter so my summer went to basketball, mission trips, camp and stress over college search! I need a good book for a getaway!
This wonderful giveaway is lovely and thanks for featuring these special books. I love the beach and to me a summer at the beach is what I love and crave. We are not anywhere near a beach but each summer we try to go for one week. Last summer we had a perfect week at the Jersey Shore and it was memorable. Ideal weather, fun each day and the great walks along the shore. This year we tried a new place which was enjoyable and scenic. Long walks, bonfires on the beach and serenity and beauty.

June was our best beach month here ;O(. We had a great family vacation a few weeks ago when our three young adult kids were able to go to Alaska with us and visit my mom. I'm hoping for a few more summer days before fall is upon us!
I also enjoy the beach, CeeCee, but we haven't gone recently due to my kids' crazy schedules.
However, this summer was excitingly different from my normal non-eventful summers. My daughter moved to Germany last September in order to lead a newly formed campus ministry, and I was able to visit her for two weeks this month. I hadn't been out of the US since a short missions trip in the 70s, and to spend quality time with my daughter - as well as seeing breathtaking scenery - was an experience I'll treasure forever.
Thank you for a great giveaway!

Wow, that's a great giveaway.
Well, this summer I didn't have the opportunity to travel, so I decided to read my books that were waiting for me... and that's a kind of trip, hmm? I went to wonderful lands where animals talk, for example. I've found out what happened to my favorites characters... I laughed and cried... When I look back on all those moments I'm sure that was a great summer. Once I read that a life without a book it's like a body without a soul. I deeply believe that!
God's great blessings.

Please enter me. These look great!
Ive been to NYC, Denver/Vail, and next week we're headed to Kelley's Island (Lake Erie, Ohio). I'm actually looking forward to some home time :)
I've spent the majority of my summer touring Pennsylvania with my family band (www.WeaverBeliever.com). We've performed 25 shows in the past 4 weeks, with 10 shows in the next two weeks before we head home to GA. The good thing about all the travel is the many hours of reading! :)

We had a nice summer. Took a quick vacation to California and got to go to the beach. Spent a lot of time close to home having water balloon fights and going to the library. It was a nice, calm summer, which I appreciated!
I wish I could tell you we did something fabulous this summer, but not this year. Funds are tight as hubby just got back to work after being laid off for 10 months. But my son did go on a very cool missions trip! And we did some local tourist spots and went the beach a few times.
