This week’s question is suggested by Kat:
In a perfect world with a thriving economy, I would have a huge library for my books. I would section off the room by genre, then have bookcases labeled by sub genre. Wouldn't that be great?I recently got new bookshelves for my room, and I’m just loving them. Spent the afternoon putting up my books and sharing it on my blog . One of my friends asked a question and I thought it would be a great BTT question. So from Tina & myself, we’d like to know “How do you arrange your books on your shelves? Is it by author, by genre, or you just put it where it falls on?”
Yeah, right. Since I don't live in a perfect world, my books are stacked and squeezed into bookcases. I hate it. No organization. I tried the other week to separate by sub genres, but I just don't have enough shelf space. I need more bookcases. Lots of them! I can't justify the expense right now.
I read somewhere that Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis decorated her apartment with books. Books under lamps, stacked on the floor. I thought her apartment looked chic. I tried the same thing, but my room looked junkie. I went back to stacking and squeezing.
Now that I'm upset and reminded that I don't have ideal storage for my treasures, I'll just go drown my sorrows in a cup of strong coffee.
Happy BTT!
6 Your say:
I'm not much of a decorator, so I'm sure if I tried to decorate with books it would looks junky, also. I just decorate with bookshelves all over the house instead.
It's frustrating when we must live in an imperfect world. lol My response is here:

Please tell me how you make that nice blue box around the question.
I've tried categorizing by genre before but I kept getting stuck over some books that are uncategorizable or that belong to more than one genre. So, just to keep my mind uncluttered, I lumped them all together, whether fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and all other kinds in between, and alphabetized by author. It works for me. :)
By author and/or genre.
Love your personal posts, Cee Cee - always make me smile! I feel your pain :) As I loan my books out I have finally decided on keeping them alphabetised by author. It was too hard to find ones when I had them by genre. I have them in drawers, bookshelves, the floor by my bed, in the study.......you get the picture!
How was the coffee? Haha... sometimes it seems like it would be cool to live in your own personal library. I'm sure we'd be able to get a lot done that way! Thanks for the comment.
