The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Tough by Neta Jackson

I can't wait for my book club to catch up. This is book 4 and I don't want to fall to far behind in this series. The sixth book is already out and the book club has just finished book three. This book is not in even in the line up for the months ahead. I'm not waiting. The only regret I'll have is by the time we discuss this book, the plot will be a little fuzzy.

The B.O.B.B. (back-of-book-blurb) The Yada Yadas got tight in the past year, but they're about to learn the real meaning of togetherness..

We'd done it: we'd taken a mismatched, diverse group of women and cobbled together a prayer group that really worked for all of us. Now that spring was here, we were celebrating out one-year anniversary -and a wedding, an early parole and two baptisms int he lake! Everything was feeling pretty great.

But it's when we're in our comfort zone that we're most likely to let our guard down. Without warning, lots of little things seemed to become big problems. With a white supremacy hate group targeting a local university, our very diversity almost became a liability. It took a vicious attack on Nony'shusband to make us see that we had to get tough-and fight back together.

Oh, there are still plenty of loose ends flapping in our faces: there always will be! But now those verses about the different parts of the Body needing each other--Paul's letter to the Corinthians, I think- really mean something to Yada Yada prayer warriors.

Time and time again , after reading a Yada Yada book, I'm confronted with things I need to work on. Jody's musings on prayer really hits home. Often times, I want to lament about something then pray later. In this story, you see Jody growing in her prayer life by remembering to pray first. Sure she still struggles but she gains perspective through prayer she might not have had otherwise.

One of my favorite teacher/preacher always says, " Go to the Throne and not the phone!" I know I've saved my mother an earful putting that to practice. Poor mom!

I'm totally a Yada Yada fan. In fact, we just started a prayer group for which I'm grateful. I just don't like calling our group,"Yada Yada." The name fits the book's group of women; not us.

I was sorry to learn the story was based on actual events. I'm weary of race relations in this country. But that's another topic for another blog.

America celebrates it's 400th birthday. Has much changed?

You think you're behind? I haven't read any of the YaYa books yet, and I've plowed through 160+ books in the last year and a half. It's on my TBR list. I think I'll get to book 1 later this year.

Deborah: Yeah, I know you're a Yada Yada sister. And yes I did know that a Christmas book with recipes will be coming up. She spoke with our book club not to long ago. I should have linked that post with this one.

Brittanie: You're welcome. Thanks for stopping by.

Patricia: 160 books!!! I'm trying to get there this year. Girl, put Ya Ya#1 at the top of your TBR, you won't be dissapointed.
